New Digital Pages - What Do You Think?

I just created these two digital pages. I like them but, I don't love them. I could picture creating other pages and tags from these pages but I'm still unsure.

What do you think, should I keep creating more pages and tags from these two pages or should I discard them?

I really appreciate any suggestions that you can give me.

Thank you so much for your help,

Nicie

Bird Theme Journal - Envelope Booklet

I just finished this beautiful bird theme envelope booklet and I'm very happy with the result!

The images inside the booklet were printed on coffee filters & sewn onto coffee dyed paper, the pockets are coffee filters that have been sewn and an image was stamped. The last three pages have hidden pockets with small folders inside them. The inserts in the pockets are coffee dyes papers and the small envelopes are created with vintage Reader's Digest pages.

I truly hope you like this journal - thank you for stopping by!

A Tall Journal and a Napkin

I've gotten the hang of creating journals and have truly been enjoying making them lately. There are so many possibilities and options you have for decorating them that you don't get tired of the process.

This journal started with me adding modge podge to a napkin. Once the napkin was dry, it was added to manila stock, placing the birds in the direction I wanted them to face. The inside was created with coffee dyed paper and vintage dictionary pages for the tags. This journal measures 8" tall by 4.25" wide.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Thank you for stopping by!

Tag Tuesday Challenge - Spring is in the air

Hello Everyone! Are you ready for spring yet? I am definitely ready for it!!! This week's challenge at Tag Tuesday just happens to be Spring is in the air. I started the tag by adding Rusty Hinge & Mustard Seed Distress Inks, added the leaves and sprayed it with a shimmer mist. It looked very nice but noticed that it was starting to look too similar to a previous tag. So, back to the drawing board.

I added gesso, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and a new mist I had just purchased from Lindy's Stamp Gang called Tibetan Poppy Teal. Wow!!! Having the gesso in the background really made the mist pop and was very happy with the result. The bird was stamped then colored with H2Os with Distress Ink around the edge. The tiny flowers are an Impression Obsession die and also colored with H2Os. Unfortunately, I don't think I was able to capture the beautiful shimmer on the pictures which is a real shame!

I hope you like this week's tag and thank you for stopping by!

Birds of a Feather...

This is my first submission to the Artistic Outpost Referral Program. This month's Referral Program is Anything Goes and the winner will receive an Artistic Outpost Prize Package!

When I saw this bird, I knew that I wanted to add him to some kind of wall hanging and decided to use chipboard. First, I painted the background with a mustard acrylic paint then added a few layers by using strips of dictionary pages, then a few pieces of tissue paper. The quote at the top left corner is stamped with black ink on tissue paper and the quote on the bottom left hand corner was stamped on a piece of muslin. I wanted to simulate what I imagined a bird would use in nature to create its nest, so for the embellishments I used feathers, small tree branches, a small piece of bark, piece of cheesecloth and a maple seed. Not sure if that's accurate, but that's what I imagined. :)  All the buttons used are Mother of Pearl. The plain ivory are vintage but the smaller ones with the yellow flowers are new. A piece of muslin was tied at the top in order to allow you to hang the wall decoration. The bird was stamped on watercolor paper and painted with Distress Inks using water brushes. I added a bit of Distress Stickles to give it some sparkle.

I am also going to submit this project to Fashionable Stamping Challenges. This is Challenge #41 and the theme Birds. The winner at Fashionable Stamping will receive a prize from Cottage Crafts.

Hope you liked my project and thanks for stopping by!!! :)

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2013 - February

Here's my interpretation of Tim's tag for the 12 Tags of 2013 - February which I have named "Love Birds". I know, I know, it's not a unique name but I couldn't help myself. :)

I painted the background with Barn Door Distress Stain then added Distress Rock Candy. I love [no pun intended] the way the Rock Candy made the color of the distress stain jump off the tag!!!! The scroll and love stamps are from Tim's collection, the birds, cage and the heart are all Sizzix dies. I added the chain to link the birds to the cage to represent they have captured love [thus the word LOVE inside the cage].

Hope you like my tag and thanks for stopping by!!! :)
