Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 - November

Wow, did time get away from me this month!!!!!! Here I am, it's past midnight and I'm just uploading my November tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012. It has been finished for a week, but am just trying to post it now. What happened??? :)

I have to say that I love they way this tag turned out! I followed Tim's example, with just a few minor teaks of course. :)  I used Crushed Olive, Barn Red, Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw Distress Stains, then used Mustard Seed, Crushed Olive, Rusty Hinge and  Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks. Instead of spritzing water I used Perfect Pearls in Sunflower Sparkle. I'm not sure if this is a new color, but it's the first time I use it and I is Beautiful!!!! The name is perfect because the color really pops & sparkles with the light! The token says "Thoughts" and combined with the stamp I'm trying to say "Thankful Thoughts" that I have during these times - as I'm sure everyone does!

Hope you like my tag as much as I do and thanks for stopping by!!! :)

Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 - October

I am still super busy getting ready for my first craft show that I have not been participating in any challenges. :(    But, I couldn't pass up Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 for October. I can't wait until I start participating in all the fun challenges again!!!

I didn't have Tim's tissue wrap, so I created my own by randomly stamping the "Curiosity" stamp with Ranger's Archival Ink in Jet Black on white tissue paper. Ditto with the dry glitter, instead I used Distress Stickles in Black Soot and Spiced Marmalade. I decided to use the ticket die cut with black paper, painted it with Metallic Distress Stain - Brushed Pewter, spritzed some water, crumbled it, dried it, then heat embossed the Halloween ticket stamp on it. The stickels have been used on the Raven, Scaredy Cat, Boo & tree branch.

I hope you all like my tag - even if the Raven is going to eat the spider! :) Thanks for stopping by!!!

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 - September and CC2 Challenge 22

Well, it seems that my procrastination paid off this month - yey! :) This project applies to the September tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 AND also to the Studio L3 CC2, Challenge 22. This is the Riveted Patchwork project that can be found in Tim Holtz's - A Compendium of Curiosities Volume 2, page 57. Linda was nice enough to link this week's challenge with the 12 Tags of 2012. Thanks Linda!!! This week's prize is being sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique and it's a biggie -- $25.00 shopping spree! Their prices are GREAT so you will get a good amount of goodies with your prize money!!!

This tag was cut using Tim's Tag & Bookplates die and the wing on the right side was cut with Sizzix Bigz Die, Angel Wings. Tim's stamp [the world of reality has its limits; but the world of imagination in boundless] was stamped on a piece of acetate and placed on the wing - I was trying for a "floating in the air" kind of effect. I'm not really sure if you can tell, but I also used the Crafter's Workshop stencil [Gears] on the left side of the tag. I added the image with textured medium, then painted it with Tim's new Metallic Distress Stain in Tarnish Brass - which by the way, I bought at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I also added the metallic stain randomly on the whole tag. I love the way the stain gave the tag and embellishments a "rusted" look.

Well, thanks for stopping by and hope you like my project!!! :)

Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012 - August

Here is my tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 - August. I didn't have the silhouette stamp, so I added my own twist. The Sizzix Bigz Die of the Bird & Cage and also the Movers & Shapers Bird & Cage are one of my all time favorite, therefore, I made my little feathery friend the focal point of my tag.

I used the Damask Sizzix embossing folder on the tag, painted it with Adirondack Paint Dabber in Stream, then added Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. The bird was cut from manila stock, inked and heat embossed, it sits on a Sizzix oval die. Instead of using a frame, I decided to use two bird cages to draw your attention to the bird. They were painted with the paint dabber, in Stream, then with Distress Crackle Paint in Pewter. The "roses" were created using the pine cone die. Let me tell you, they are very tricky to assemble!!!! I didn't think that I was going to finish even one "rose" but I ended up with four. I think they're not too bad for my first time using the pine cone! :)  What do you think of them? Tim uses the branches and leaves from his Movers & Shapers Branch & Leaf, but I only used the leaves, I used real branches for the "branches". I really like incorporating nature into my projects when I can. Tim's metal bird and his "memoirs" trinket pin was used to decorate the top of the tag and  I created the pearl embellishments. Once everything dried, I spritzed the tag with Perfect Pearls in Blue Smoke.

I am also entering this tag in the Fashionable Stamping Challenges #29, Anything Floral/Handmade Flowers. This challenge asks that you create a project using a floral motif and/or flowers. It is being sponsored by Cottage Crafts. Please be sure to stop by their store!

Thank you for stopping by and hope you like this project!!! :)

12 Tags of 2012 - July

Yes, we're in the last days of July, BUT, I'm very happy to be posting my July tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 - July now and not on the actual last day of the month! :)

When I saw this challenge, I thought to myself that it would be a very simple one. Boy, was I wrong! Getting the alcohol inks to spread using the air can was not as simple as it looks. They pretty much go wherever they want, no matter how hard you try! :)  It took several trial and errors but I'm pretty happy with the results that I achieved. The skyline and stars are Tim's stamps and the fireworks is from Hero Arts. I used the metal with the saying: "the journey awakens the soul" because that's how I feel every time I'm going to start a new project. Whatever your inspiration is, it awakens your imagination and your artistic soul comes to life! I didn't have the silver metallic mixative so I used the pearl instead. I have to say that I'm pretty happy with the result. I like the pearl streak on the right side because it reminded me of the sparks coming down after the fireworks blow up in the air. Thank you for stopping by!!! I hope you like my tag! :)

12 Tags of 2012 - June

Here's my project for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 - June. I hadn't tried this technique which is coloring photos with Distress Inks. It was much easier than I had expected, pretty much it's just a matter of choosing a photograph & the colors you would like to use. I chose this vintage photo because I really liked the flowers on the little girl's hair.

You can watch Tim demonstrate this technique on YouTube by clicking on this link - Tim's video. I hope you like my project - thanks for stopping by! :)

12 Tags of 2012 - May

Hurray!!!!!!!!!!! I finished my tag for the 12 Tags of 2012 - May challenge! I was panicking thinking that I was not going to be able to submit my tag, but here I am!!!

It was so much fun playing with the melting pot. I had used UTEE before but not the melting pot. I'm embarrassed to say that it's been sitting in a drawer for about 4 years [oops!] with a nice label stating "Melting Pot" but it had never wandered out onto my craft table. That is definitely going to change because I had so much fun with it! :)

I hope you like my tag and thanks for stopping by!!!   :)

12 Tags of 2012 - April

This is my tag for the April 12 Tags of 2012 project. I used several stamps from the Urban Grunge set. The decorative frame, crown & the bird's chest was stamped with white ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I used Distress Inks in Broken China & Wild Honey, applied the Spritz & Flick Technique and also spritzed it with Perfect Pearl Mist in Turquoise. The two small hearts were sprayed with Dylusions Ink Spray in London Blue, then Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy was applied on top. The "Listen to your heart" stamp was added to card stock that sits on corrugated paper for a little added dimension. Since I used several of Tim's techniques, I was also able to add this tag to the Simon Says Stamp and Show A Lord Tim Technique!

Thank you for stopping by!!! :)

12 Tags of 2012 - March

I have finally completed my project for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 - March and I really love how it turned out. I was also able to use the easel die which I've had for a while. I wonder if there is an ATC size easel? Definitely would get that one!!! :)

I didn't have the wood grain stamp, but I did have the embossing folder. After embossing the card stock I painted it with burnt sienna acrylic paint, then added Clearsnap Smooch Spritz in Sun Kissed. The ticket die cut was also spritzed with Smooch and the saying "every possibility..." was stamped with Forest Moss Distress Ink. There are three real tree branches in the middle, an Idea-Ology Foliage Fastener on the upper right hand corner and one on the lower left corner. The butterflies were die cut, painted with the Forest Moss Distress Ink and also spritzed with Smooch, cut pieces of paper were added then Glossy Accents was added on top...and last but not least the easel.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!!! :)

Grungy Monday 36 - Tim's 12 Tags of 2012

Here's my entry to this week's Grungy Monday 36, that is being sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Luckily, it also qualifies for the first Tim's 12 Tags of 2012. I created the tag using Tim's Tag & Bookplates die, then used Tim's embossing folder. I used the circles because they reminded me of a bull's eye - I imagined cupid shooting its arrow straight to the middle! :)  I used Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Barn Door and Festive Berries on the tag and the seam ribbons have been colored with Fired Brick and Festive Berries. The embossed hearts have been decorated with Distress Stickles in Rock Candy, the bottom heart has an Idea-Ology Game Spinner and of course, the key is from the Idea-Ology Word Keys.

This is the first time that I participate in the My Mojo Monthly project and was lucky enough to be able to use this tag for that challenge as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a GREAT day!!!
